The City of Cape Town invites South African unemployed youth to apply for Cadet Fire Fighter Learnership Programme 2025.

Location: City of Cape Town, South Africa
The City of Cape Town is inviting applications for the Cadet Fire Fighter Skills Program. This is a non-permanent training program with the Fire and Rescue Services under the Directorate: Safety & Security.
Position Details:
- Stipend: R 5,961.83 per month
- Duration: Non-permanent, training-based program
- Reference Number: SS 01/25 Ext.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 qualification (preferably with Mathematics and Physical Science)
- 18 years or older
- Must not have a fear of confined spaces or heights
- Must be medically and physically fit
- Must be able to work under pressure, as part of a team, and in stressful situations
- No criminal record (must undergo a criminal background check)
- Must reside within the City of Cape Town Municipal Area
- Unemployed applicants only
Fitness Requirements (compulsory tests for shortlisted candidates):
- Reach test (1.9 m)
- 2.4 km run: Males – 11 minutes, Females – 13 minutes
- Push-ups: 30 in 60 seconds
- Sit-ups: 30 in 60 seconds
- Dead load carries: 2 x 25 kg drums over a distance of 100 m
Candidates who pass the physical tests will also need to:
- Pass a written assessment and an interview
- Submit fingerprints and identity numbers for a criminal record check
- Undergo a medical evaluation and drug test at a City testing center
- Pass claustrophobia (fear of confined spaces) and acrophobia (fear of heights) tests
Special Conditions:
- No permanent employment upon completion of the program
- Candidates must wear a uniform and protective clothing during the program
- No expectation of a permanent position after completion of the program

Important Notes:
- Applicants will undergo a compulsory drug test and physical assessments.
- All assessments will be based on a process of elimination.
- Only applicants with no criminal record will be considered.
- Late applications will not be accepted.
