Position Overview

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment seeks motivated and suitably qualified individuals to fill various positions under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). This program offers opportunities to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the nation’s development goals. The closing date for applications is 24th March 2025.

Key Requirements

To apply for these vacancies, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Qualification: A recognized three-year Bachelor’s DegreeNational Diploma, or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
  • Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge: A basic understanding of the EPWP, reporting protocols, and the relationship between national, provincial, and municipal governments.
  • Skills:
    • Basic organizational and coordination skills.
    • Stakeholder management and facilitation.
    • Sound communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The EPWP roles will involve a variety of duties aimed at supporting the program’s successful implementation:

  • Database Management: Develop and maintain a database for EPWP reports from public bodies.
  • Reporting: Capture monthly progress reports into the EPWP reporting systems.
  • Exception Reporting: Provide exception reports on the data received and captured.
  • Reconciliation: Ensure all reports are reconciled and advise managers of any outstanding reports.
  • Tracking: Capture all allocated EPWP reports from public bodies across the province.
