Job Advert Summary Rola Toyota Bredasdorp is looking for an Automotive Apprentice (Learner Technician) to be trained and developed to kickstart a technical career in the motor industry. The essential requirement however is minimum Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science as subjects.
Minimum Requirements
  • Min Grade 12, with Mathematics & Science as subjects
  • Automotive subject will be highly advantageous
  • Young, vibrant and willing to learn
  • Technical skills and a keen enthusiasm for motor vehicles
  • Good timekeeping and ability to work under pressure
  • Good verbal communication skills (most training offered in English)
  • Must reside in Bredasdorp or surrounding areas 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists a qualified technician with servicing & repairs to vehicles while developing towards becoming a fully qualified, Red Seal–accredited Technician.
  • Learn how to accurately clock times on all jobs.
  • Ensure understanding of Repair Order Instructions before work begins
  • Learn how to plan a job and identify parts that must be ordered
  • Attends prescribed training

1. Maintenance Learnership Programme (Unemployed Production)

This is a high-impact programme designed to equip youth with NQF Level 3 certifications in manufacturing and maintenance.

  • Status for 2026: Initial intake recently closed (Jan 30, 2026). Check the portal for potential mid-year intakes or secondary cycles.
  • Location: Prospecton, Durban (KZN).
  • Duration: 12 – 24 Months.
  • Educational Requirements:
    • National Technical Certificate (N3–N6) OR
    • Technical Matric with:
      • Mathematics and Physical Science/Engineering Science.
      • At least one technical subject: Electrical Trade Theory, Mechanical Trade Theory, Motor Trade Theory, or Mechanical Drawing/Graphical Design.

2. Graduate Training Programme 2026

Known as the GT26, this is a 24-month professional development programme for university graduates.

  • Application Cycle: Applications for the 2026 intake typically open in June/July 2025 and close by 31 July. The actual work placement commences on February 2, 2026.
  • Eligible Disciplines:
    • Engineering: Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics/Electrical (Light Current).
    • Business/Commerce: Accounting (CA Stream), HR, Marketing, Economics.
    • Tech: Computer Science, Data Science, IT, Statistics, Mathematics.
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Final year aggregate of at least 65%.
    • South African Citizen aged 18–35.
    • Bachelor’s Degree (Honours/PG preferred).

3. Apprenticeship Programme

A 4-year technical programme leading to a Trade Test (Artisan status).

  • Trades: Tool, Jig & Die; Millwright; Fitter & Turner; Motor Mechanic; Auto Electrician.
  • Requirement: N3 or Technical Matric with relevant trade theory.

4. Bursary Opportunities 2026

  • Opening Date: 01 April 2025.
  • Closing Date: 30 September 2025.
  • Target: Full-time students in Engineering, Commerce, or Science degrees at accredited SA Universities.
