About the Bursary Programme

The Capitec External Bursary Programme 2026 is designed to support high-achieving students in technology, finance, and data-focused disciplines. If you are studying full-time in 2026 and meet the eligibility criteria, Capitec wants to invest in your academic and professional growth.

What the Bursary Covers

  • Full tuition and registration fees
  • Accommodation
  • Textbooks
  • Meal allowance
  • A stipend (if applicable)
  • Onboarding and workplace readiness training

Note: Final bursary benefits will be confirmed upon signing the pledge/award letter.

Important Conditions

  • The bursary is renewable annually based on academic performance and budget availability.
  • Work-back obligation: You are required to work for Capitec for each year of bursary funding received or repay the value plus interest.
  • Disclosure of part-time employment or false information may result in termination of the bursary.
  • Preference may be given to Employment Equity candidates.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the Capitec Bursary 2026, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be a 2025 matric student, gap-year student (2024), or full-time student in 2025 at a DHET/CHE registered institution
  • Be registered for a Bachelor’s Degree or Honours (NQF Level 7 or higher) in one of the following fields:
    • Actuarial Science
    • Computer Science
    • Information Systems
    • Information Technology
    • Digital Marketing
    • Economics
    • Finance
    • Mathematics
    • Quantitative Management
    • Statistics
  • Meet academic performance requirements:
    • Grade 12: Minimum average of 65% or higher
    • Tertiary: Average of 65% or higher in the latest academic year(s)

Who Should Not Apply?

  • Students pursuing N4–N6, Higher Certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Master’s or Doctoral qualifications
  • Students enrolled in TVET Colleges, Community Colleges, UNISA, or distance learning institutions

How to Apply

Application Instructions:

  1. Ensure all required documents are included:
    • Certified copy of ID
    • Academic transcripts
    • Proof of registration (if available)
  2. Applications that are incomplete or dishonest will be rejected.
  3. If you don’t hear back within 3 months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
