What will interns actually do?
The role includes supporting a wide range of Industrial Relations tasks. Shoprite says interns will help with scheduling IR meetings, hearings, consultations, and related engagements. They will also assist with case documentation, logs, and record keeping.
Other responsibilities include basic research on labour relations trends, disciplinary processes, and legislation, as well as helping with IR training sessions, workshops, reports, templates, presentations, and internal documents
On the administration side, interns will capture, file, organise, and maintain IR records, respond to basic IR-related queries, and keep relevant information updated in line with organisational standards.
The role also includes support with people data, internal reporting, cost monitoring where needed, POPIA-aligned data handling, and identifying risks in IR processes for escalation to the right team members.
