SASSA Grant Increase September 2025 : Many South Africans have depended on the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) for their welfare needs. But, starting September 2025, several of such grants will be adjusted and paid out in higher instalments. Such amendments are carried out to support the vulnerable sections of the society in keeping up with the rising cost of living, and to ensure welfare beneficiaries have better support during the economic challenges.

Raise Is Significant

For a vast number of families, SASSA grants serve as the sole means of livelihood and are used to meet the basic needs of food, transportation, and health care. As the prices of food, fuels, and electricity tariffs soar, the government has decided to raise the grant amounts in the principal classifications as a means of relief.

The increase set for September 2025 will grant the needed financial assistance with regard to these issues and in the same vein serves as a demonstration of the government’s determination to fight poverty and to safeguard the at-risk groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with dependent children.

SASSA Payment Amounts – September 2025

Listed below are the grant changes that will become effective in September:

• Old Age Grant: R2,315 per month (previously R2,200)
• Disability Grant: R2,315 per month
• Child Support Grant: R560 per child
• Foster Care Grant: R1,250 per child
• Care Dependency Grant: R2,315 per month
• War Veterans Grant: R2,335 per month
• SRD Grant (R350): Remains the same for the moment

These modifications are strongly felt increases, especially for pensioners and families supporting children, who have been the most affected by the increase in inflation.

Payment Dates For September 2025

To help recipients plan their finances, SASSA has further reconfirmed the grant payment schedule for the month of September:

• Older Persons Grant: 3 September 2025
• Disability Grant: 4 September 2025
• Children’s Grants: 5 September 2025

Payments will be deposited into bank accounts and can also be made at retail and post office pay points, which will allow beneficiaries to retrieve their funds from the locations of their choice.
