Traineeship Program for Youth at Department of Health

Successful applicants will have the chance to study for a one-year Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care (HCert in EMC) at theKwaZulu-Natal College of Emergency Care.

Applicant Entry Level Requirements

To be eligible for this training programme, candidates must meet the following academic and additional requirements:

1. Senior Certificate (Prior to 2008):
2. Minimum of E symbol on Higher Grade or D symbol on Standard Grade for all of these subjects:
3. English
4. Mathematics
5. Biology
6. or Physical Sciences
7. National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Higher Certificate Endorsement:

Applicant Must have the following subjects and rating codes

1. English (Rating Code 3)
2. Mathematics (Rating Code 3) or
3. Mathematical Literacy (Rating Code 6)
4. Life Sciences (Rating Code 3)
5. orPhysical Sciences (Rating Code 3)
6. Additional Subject 1 (Rating Code 3)
7. Additional Subject 2 (Rating Code 3)
8. National Certificate (Vocational):

Applicant Must have a minimum pass of 60% for all of these subjects:

1. 1. English

2. Life Sciences and/or Physical Sciences

Additional Requirements For Applicant

1. Minimum APS (Admission Point Score): 18
2. Pass a medical fitness examination.
3. Pass a physical fitness assessment.
