Training Force: Advancing Youth Skills Development in South Africa for 2026

Training Force (Pty) Ltd is a Johannesburg-based skills development provider founded in 2003. The organisation delivers accredited education and training programmes across multiple sectors throughout South Africa, working closely with businesses to strengthen workforce capability and improve employability.

Its offerings include learnerships, apprenticeships, short courses, full qualifications, and customised upskilling initiatives aligned with industry demands and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

As a Level 1 B-BBEE contributor, Training Force also supports companies in enhancing their B-BBEE scorecards through structured skills development programmes. This makes its training solutions valuable not only for individuals seeking career opportunities but also for organisations focused on transformation and compliance.

Understanding a Learnership

A learnership is a structured training programme that blends classroom-based theoretical learning with practical, on-the-job experience. Generally running for 12 months, learnerships are registered on the NQF and accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Upon successful completion, learners receive a nationally recognised occupational qualification.

One of the key advantages of this model is that participants earn a monthly stipend while gaining practical skills and workplace exposure — allowing them to learn and earn at the same time.

Programme Structure

The 2026 intake follows a structured and supportive format:

  • Duration: 12 months (full-time)

  • Learning Approach: Classroom instruction combined with workplace training

  • Qualification: Nationally recognised NQF-aligned certification

  • Support Provided: Monthly stipend, mentorship, and professional guidance

Learners attend sessions facilitated by accredited trainers and are placed with host employers to apply their knowledge in real work environments. Ongoing mentorship ensures participants build confidence and transition successfully into the workforce.

Eligibility Criteria

The 2026 learnership programmes are open to South African youth who meet the following general requirements:

  • Age: 18–28 years

  • Citizenship: South African

  • Education: Minimum Grade 10 (Matric or equivalent often preferred)

  • Employment Status: Unemployed and not enrolled in another learnership or internship

Applicants living with disabilities are encouraged to apply, as inclusivity remains a key focus of the programmes.

Applications are typically submitted through the official Training Force website via the learnership portal. Direct email submissions to staff members are generally not accepted.

Benefits of Participating in a Training Force Learnership

Recognised Qualification

Participants receive an NQF-registered qualification acknowledged across industries, strengthening employability and creating pathways for further study.

Practical Experience

Workplace placement provides valuable hands-on exposure, giving learners the experience many entry-level employers require.

Monthly Stipend

A financial allowance supports learners during the programme, easing the burden often associated with unpaid training opportunities.

Professional Development

Beyond technical skills, learners build critical workplace competencies such as communication, teamwork, time management, and accountability.

Career Opportunities

Some learners secure employment with host employers after completing the programme, while others leverage their qualification and experience to pursue roles elsewhere or continue studying.

Fields of Study and Industry Sectors

Training Force offers learnerships across various sectors aligned with SETA accreditation and labour market needs, including:

  • Business Services and Administration

  • Wholesale and Retail Operations

  • Transport and Logistics

  • Construction and Engineering

  • Hospitality and Tourism

Each programme is structured to reflect real-world industry requirements, equipping learners with practical skills applicable to their chosen field.

The Impact of Training Force

By linking unemployed youth with accredited training and meaningful workplace experience, Training Force plays a significant role in addressing South Africa’s skills shortage. Its programmes contribute to reducing unemployment while assisting companies in meeting B-BBEE skills development targets.

NOTE:

For young South Africans seeking a structured pathway into the workforce, Training Force’s 2026 learnership programmes present a strong opportunity. With recognised qualifications, workplace exposure, mentorship, and financial support, these initiatives empower learners to build sustainable careers while gaining practical, industry-relevant skills.
