The Programme

The Transnet Young Professionals in Training Programme is a structured, full-time development initiative aimed at enhancing the capabilities of graduates through on-the-job training, mentorship, and structured learning interventions. Participants are placed within various divisions of Transnet, depending on their qualifications and career interests, and are immersed in real-life projects that impact South Africa’s economy.

The programme typically runs for 24 months and combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience to prepare participants for permanent roles within Transnet or the broader transport and logistics industry.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN TRAINING PROGRAMME

EMPLOYEE GROUP: TRAINEE

LOCATION: DURBAN CENTRAL

POSITION PURPOSE

Transnet Corporate Centre and Academy is looking for dynamic and recently qualified graduates for a two-year programme (24 months programme). This programme will provide the incumbents with relevant workplace experience through a structured learning programme and organizational support.

POSITION OUTPUTS

As a Young-Professional-In-Training, your responsibilities include shadowing various staff members, participating in learning experiences, attending meetings and workshops, with exposure to other working functions to gain practical experience in the following deliverables:
Communicate with customers to ensure a clear understanding of their needs, including the level of urgency as well as keep them updated regularly on the progress of their requirements.
Ensure that queries are addressed in a satisfactory and timeous manner.
Provide general administrative, research and assistance.
Take work briefs/instructions from Mentor and/or Specialist to structure the work required to produce specific deliverables.
Execute project work task effectively and efficiently as an individual and collaboratively.
Produce quality work that can be used as input to develop the most appropriate project solutions for the client.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

BCom Honours Degree in Marketing/Economics/Logistics. OR
Degree in Law (Corporate and Governance) OR
Degree in Financial Information Systems OR
National Diploma or BCom Degree in Internal Auditing or Accounting.
0-1 Year experience.
MS Office Packages.
Must be a South African citizen.
Age between 18-35.

COMPETENCIES

Good written and communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and PowerPoint.
The ability to work well within a team.
Problem solving and pays attention to detail.
