About the Programme
The Transnet Corporate Centre and Academy is committed to empowering South Africa’s youth through its two-year Young Professional-in-Training (YPiT) Programme. This structured internship is designed to give graduates a comprehensive understanding of the workplace while providing the tools needed to launch a successful career.
Key Responsibilities
As a Young Professional-in-Training, your duties will include:
- Supporting key tasks and deliverables within your assigned department or workstream.
- Shadowing experienced staff, participating in training sessions, and gaining multi-functional exposure—particularly in procurement and administrative support.
- Managing communication with internal customers to understand needs and keep them informed of progress.
- Acting as a central contact point for both supplier and end-user queries, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Conducting research, compiling reports, and assisting with general administrative functions.
- Taking instructions from mentors or specialists to contribute meaningfully to departmental projects.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Degree or National Diploma in Heritage Studies, Fine Art, History, Curatorship, Visual Studies, or a related humanities discipline.
- Have 0–1 year of work experience (graduates and entry-level candidates encouraged to apply).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Be a South African citizen, preferably under the age of 35, in line with youth empowerment targets.
