Become a learner at SDC for South African Citizen (Between the ages of 18 and 28)

Requirement to become a learner at SDC are as follows, and learners must comply with all to be eligible:

  • B-BBEE Black Person (African, Indian or Coloured)
  • South African Citizen
  • Minimum of Grade 12
  • Between the ages of 18 and 28
  • Must be available for 12-month learnership program
  • Must attend mandatory practical training

The following original documentation must be submitted:

  • Proof of disability (in accordance with the Employment Equity Act)
  • Updated CV (including tertiary qualifications and/or work experience)
  • Proof of residence
  • 2 x Certified copies of the highest school qualification
  • 2 x Certified copies of ID
  • 3-Month bank statement (not older than 3 months)
  • SARS Tax number (Notice of Registration)

Step 1: Documents Submission

To start the application process, all applicants must submit the original documents listed below to the SDC Campus in either Johannesburg or Cape Town (Mondays, 8 am – 12 pm for abled learners & Mon – Fri, 8 am -12 pm for disabled learners). This is required even if you have submitted your details online to join our learner sourcing pool. Please note that all documentation is subject to validation for all learners.

Step 2: Documents Review

  • All documents will be thoroughly reviewed to guarantee their validity.
  • SDC adheres to ethical and legal standards at all times.
  • Upon successful review, you will be contacted for an interview.

Step 3: Learner Interview

  • As part of our pre-screening, we conduct a brief interview with all prospective learners to gather information about your background, abilities, and communication skills.

Step 4: Assessment Test

  • All applicants will write an assessment test and must pass with 80%.

Step 5: Validated Applicant Database

Once steps 1-4 have been completed, the SDC team will begin validating all documentation, including interview notes and the assessment test. If the validation process is successful and the applicant meets all the requirements, they will be added to our

Step 6: Learnership Enrolment

Once the SDC team successfully allocates an applicant to a learnership, the applicant will be invited to our campus to begin their learnership and sign their contract.
