Kearsney College would like to invite applications for its Internship Programme, designed to nurture future leaders in education within a setting steeped in tradition, character, and academic rigour.
What We Offer
This immersive internship provides:
- Professional Teaching Experience: Receive structured, on-the-job training in classroom practice.
- Pastoral Involvement: Contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of our boys through boarding house duties, sanatorium support, library supervision, and prep assistance.
- Sporting Excellence: Coach and mentor in key sporting codes including rugby, water polo, hockey, cricket, and basketball.
- Cultural & Leadership Development: Engage in electives, clubs, leadership camps, and community outreach programmes.
- Mentorship: Benefit from dedicated Mentors who will guide your professional journey and evaluate your progress.
Ideal Candidates
We seek individuals who:
- Are studying part-time towards a Bachelor of Education (GET or FET Phase) or hold a degree and intend to pursue a PGCE.
- Have a strong interest in teaching subjects such as Mathematics, Physical Science, IT/CAT, Engineering Graphics and Design, English, Accounting, Business Studies, or Afrikaans.
- Demonstrate experience or enthusiasm for coaching school sports.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Are deeply committed to a career in education and the values of boys’ boarding school life.
Programme Details
- Fixed-term, one-year contract (renewable annually).
- Accommodation provided on our heritage-rich campus, near Durban.
- Male interns reside in single rooms within the boarding houses.
- Full board: Three meals daily and laundry service during term time.
- Annual study allowance and paid study leave.
- Access to campus gym and sports facilities.
