The Ministry of Basic Education has announced that applications for phase two of teaching assistant jobs are now open after the successful completion of phase one which ended in April.

1. Requirement for Teachers Assistants Posts is Matric Certificate.
2. Even if you do not have Matric Certificate you can apply for School General Assistants Posts.

REMEMBER: If you have Matric Certificate you can apply for both Teacher Assistants posts and SGA posts.

In a statement released on Sunday, September 26, the ministry said applications for the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI)

287,000 opportunities available

BEEI is part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative. In the phase two , BEEI seeks to provide 287,000 unemployed young people with employment opportunities and training in the education sector.

Of these, approximately 192,000 will be teacher assistants and approximately 95,000 will be teacher assistants in general. Successful applicants will be placed in schools for five months,

“Young people between the ages of 18-35, who are not currently in education / training, nor receiving any form of government subsidy, as well as young people with disabilities and women, are eligible and encouraged to apply for this rewarding experience.” . said the ministry.

Candidates selected for the placement will have the opportunity to receive training in a variety of skills that will prepare them for future employment opportunities. ”

Teaching assistant jobs at the Ministry of Basic Education
According to the Ministry of Basic Education, the following teacher assistant positions are available:

•Education Assistant – Curriculum.
•Teaching assistant – TIC / e-Cadres.
•Teaching Assistant – Reading Champions.
•General school assistant – Child and youth protection officer.
•General tutoring – maintenance staff (no matrix required).
•School General Assistant: Sports and Enrichment Officer (no matrix required).

To qualify for the teaching assistant opportunities, the candidate must have passed Matrix English. Having an NQF level 4, 6 and 7 qualification certificate will be an added advantage.

To be qualified as a general school assistant for infrastructure support (maintenance staff) or as a sports and enrichment agent, a candidate does not need to have a school-leaving certificate. However, commercial certificates will be an added advantage.

“To work in education you need to have a good ability to work with individuals and groups, have good communication skills, be a good listener and have an interest in academics,” the department said.

How to apply

To apply for teaching assistant jobs, you need to register on sayouth.mobi, create a profile and apply there. All applications will be online and visits to schools will not be allowed, according to the ministry.

•In an update on Twitter on •Monday, September 27, the ministry set the following criteria for applicants:

•Applicants must not be 36 years old
•Live within walking distance of the school.
•You don’t have to work, study or take any training (not even part-time).
•Only one opportunity can be seized per household.
•He should not receive any government subsidy (NSFAS, •Funza Lushaka).
•No criminal record.

Applicants who receive a notice that they have been shortlisted will be required to provide the following documents:

•Curriculum Vitae (CV).
•Testimonies (old school, local leader, church leader, etc.).
•Police certificates.
•Applicant’s affidavit / statement that he has no criminal record pending police clearance.
•Matric certified diplomas (if applicable: NQF level 4 qualification certificate, for educational assistant candidates at NQF levels 6 and 7 an additional benefit).
•Certified copy of identity document / passport.
