EduPower Youth Development: Learnerships & Jobs 2026

1. Available Learnership Programs (2026)

Programs generally run for 12 months and combine 30% theoretical classroom learning with 70% practical work experience.

  • Age: Generally targeted at youth (under 29 or 35 depending on the specific intake).
  • Education: * Grade 11/12 (Matric) for NQF Level 3 & 4.
    • Grade 10 or equivalent may be considered for entry-level NQF 1 or 2 programs.
  • Disability Status: Applicants living with disabilities are highly encouraged to apply and must provide a doctor’s letter confirming the nature of the disability.
  • Status: Must be currently unemployed.

5. Career Path & Job Absorption

EduPower is unique because of its Absorption Guarantee. At the end of the 12-month learnership:

  • Job Offers: Successful learners are typically offered full-time roles within the EduPower BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) ecosystem.
  • Entrepreneurship: Some graduates are supported in starting small businesses (e.g., food truck franchises or service providers).
  • Skills: You will leave with over 1,800 hours of real-world work experience, making you highly marketable to other employers in the BPO and retail sectors.

The benefits of these learnerships are structured to create a “win-win-win” for the learners, the sponsoring businesses, and the broader South African economy.

1. Key Benefits for Learners (Youth)

For unemployed youth (aged 18–35), EduPower provides a path that circumvents the “no experience, no job” trap.

  • Earn While You Learn: Learners receive a monthly stipend to cover living expenses (transport and meals), making education accessible to those who cannot afford full-time tuition.

  • 70/30 Practical Focus: Unlike traditional schooling, 70% of the program is spent gaining real-world work experience (often in their Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centers), while only 30% is classroom theory.

  • Guaranteed Absorption: One of EduPower’s strongest selling points is their Absorption Offer. They aim to offer full-time employment to graduates either within their own operations or through a network of partners.

  • Accredited Qualifications: Learners earn a nationally recognized NQF qualification (e.g., in Business Administration or Contact Centre Operations), which is vital for long-term career mobility.

  • Personal Development: Programs include “soft skills” training, such as the Enneagram for self-mastery, emotional intelligence, and workplace etiquette.

IMPORTANT POST :  Occupational Health & Safety Learnership 2026: Earn R7,100/Month

2. Key Benefits for Employers (Sponsors)

Companies that fund these learnerships through EduPower gain significant strategic and financial advantages.

  • B-BBEE Scorecard Optimization: Sponsors can earn up to 25 points for the Skills Development element. Additionally, by using EduPower’s absorption model, companies can claim 5 bonus points for placing learners into permanent roles.

  • Tax Incentives (Section 12H): Businesses can claim significant tax rebates—up to R60,000 per able-bodied learner and R100,000 for learners with disabilities.

  • Zero-Disruption Hosting: EduPower hosts the learners at their own facilities. This means the sponsor gets the B-BBEE and tax benefits without needing to provide desk space, computers, or daily management.

  • Vetted Talent Pipeline: Employers can use the 12-month period as a “long-term interview,” choosing the top performers to join their permanent staff at the end of the program.

3. Focus on People with Disabilities (PWD)

EduPower is a leader in inclusive development, specifically tailoring environments for learners with disabilities.

  • Reasonable Accommodation: Their facilities (like the Mount Edgecombe academy) are specifically designed to be accessible.

  • Specialized Mentorship: They use a “buddy system” and peer-to-peer mentoring to help PWD learners navigate the unique challenges of the workplace.

  • Financial Upliftment: The higher tax rebates for PWD learnerships (R100k) allow companies to make a massive social impact while maximizing their financial return on investment (ROI).
