The Rand Refinery Bursary Programme for the 2024 academic year is available for South African citizens pursuing undergraduate studies in specific fields.

Fields of study:

Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate studies within the following fields:

  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Chemical Process Engineering
  • Commercial Studies (including Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain, Law, IT and more)
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Quality Management Systems
  • Robotics and Advanced Control

Eligibility Requirements:

  • South African citizenship is mandatory.
  • Applicants should be between 18 and 25 years old.
  • Must have completed Matric and pursuing an undergraduate degree in one of the specified fields.
  • Open to students in their first, second, or third year of study.
  • Studying at a recognized and accredited South African University or University of Technology.
  • Should have achieved a minimum overall average of 70% in the first year of study.

The bursary covers the following expenses:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Prescribed books and stationery
  • Laptop
  • Accommodation
  • Meals
  • Monthly stipend
  • Social support throughout the study period

The Bursary is a financial assistance programme for eligible students to aid with university expenses. The funding covers student’s Tuition and Textbook expenses. In addition, a monthly stipend is provided for 12 months and is subject to renewal based on academic performance.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizens
  • Registered at a South African accredited institution
  • Completed 1 year of your academic programme; in 2nd year or onward of your academic programme

Black Mountain Study Trust: Bursaries 2024


The Black Mountain Study Trust offers bursaries for students residing in the Khai-Ma Municipal area in the Northern Cape Province who are pursuing Degree or Diploma studies in specific fields.

Requied Fields of study:

  • Agriculture,
  • Education,
  • Finance,
  • Human Resources,
  • Medical (Dietitian, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and more)
  • Social Work/Psycholog

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must permanently reside within the Khai-Ma Municipal area in the Northern Cape Province.
  • Currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
  • Studying or intending to study towards a Degree or Diploma qualification in specified fields.
  • Studying or intending to study at a recognized and accredited South African University.

MultiChoice: Bursaries 2024

Graduates24-MultiChoice

The 2024 intake for the MultiChoice Bursary Scheme, valued at R32m, has officially opened and is available to over 200 students to advance their studies. Applications close on 27 January 2024.

Fields of study:

Open to students in all years of study, the Scheme includes students who have enrolled for their first post-graduate degree that is focused on the STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), particularly:

  • Actuarial science
  • Electrical, electronic and information engineering
  • Computer science and applied mathematics
  • Information technology (AI and robotics)
  • Data and information science
  • Digital media technologies

Designed to not only provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate academic excellence, the MultiChoice bursary scheme also aims to uplift and empower students to have access to quality education by covering tuition fees including registration, accommodation as well as an annual living allowance.

Requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be Registered at a South African Institution of Higher Learning and are full-time students between quantile one to quantile three schools in all years of study up to NQF 9.
