The payments will not be done together, but will be done month by month.

More than one payment may be made in a month but no one will receive double payments in amount.

The Sassa website states that a person whose application for a grant has been denied, within 30 days from the date that they receive the notification that their application has been declined, can appeal the decision or apply for reconsideration of their application.

In addition to a number of reasons, the Sassa application may be declined for the

following reasons:

  • Identified alternative sources of income,
  • UIF registered.
  • NSFAS registered.
  • Debtor,
  • Referred,
  • Identity verification failed etc.

The debtor is the only applicant who cannot appeal a reason for denial.

Canceled Essentially, this means the grant has been canceled. Sassa’s website allows applicants to reinstate their grants.

  2. Scroll down to the ‘South African ID Holders’ and click the ‘click here to proceed’ tab
  3. Then, scroll down to ‘Application status’ for your SRD grant
  4. Click on ‘Click here to check online’
  5. Fill in your ID number and the phone number that you used for your application, then+ click ‘submit’
  6. You should then be able to see the SRD status of your R350 grant application
